—– | Saturday – Trapani Meeting at the port for embarkation at 16.00. Welcome cocktail and departure for Favignana. The landing will be in one of the fantastic bays in the south part of the island, for the first swim in crystal clear waters, relax at sunset in a charming landscape and dinner on board. Overnight in the harbour. ————– Sunday – Favignana The south coast, rugged and full of creeks is perfect for exploring the little white beaches and snorkelling around Punta Marsala. A must is a stop-off at the cliffs of tuff at Cala Rossa (Red Creek), the pink sand beach of Cala Azzurra (Blue Creek), and a visit to the Bue Marino creek. Return in the afternoon for a walk in the little square and the pretty little streets of the centre. The famous “harpooning” of tuna fish takes place at the end of May: in the other periods you can visit the tuna farm, Florio, one of the few still operating. Dinner in the village to taste the famous botargo and swordfish.——————– ————– Monday – Favignana In the morning we will continue visiting the island: you can go for walks in the maquis, or visit the caves of Uccerie and Stalattiti, archaeological evidence of the Paleolithic era. Back at sea we’ll be on route for Levanzo: after a pleasant sail there will still be time for a swim at sunset at the foot of Faraglione, before entering the little harbour of the only town on the island. Dinner in a typical local restaurant and overnight in the port.——————– ————– Tuesday – Levanzo The smallest of the Egadi is mountainous and has only one road from south to north. It is an island made for those who love nature and the rhythms dictated by the sea and their own pace. Therefore there is maximum relaxation: waking up, breakfast, sunbathing on the beach or a stroll through the village. You can also do a wonderful excursion – on foot or by jeep – to arrive at the Genovese cave where famous wall-paintings of bison and deer have been found from the Paleolithic era, when the island was still attached to the mainland. In the early afternoon we’ll return to the sea, and completing the circumnavigation of the island from the east, we’ll sail to Marettimo, the furthest of the archipelago islands. Dinner at your choice in the town and overnight in the port.——————– ————– Wednesaday - Marettimo This is the quietest of the Egadi, it has a small port and no hotel; it only opens its doors to the curious, those who arrive in these parts. At the foot of the mountain, there is a small town with little flat-roofed cubic, white-washed houses. From here you can see Punta Troia and the ruins of an Aragonese castle, used as a prison until 1844. A series of impracticable paths (but passable on a donkey) lead inland, inviting you to experience the unspoilt nature and offering spectacular views. The western coastline is a complete nature reserve. With authorized boats one can land in the hidden bays which have an incredibly clear seabed with the sheer dolomitic rocks reflecting in the water. Not to be missed is the visit to the “Cave of the Crib – named after the form of the rocks eroded by the water and wind – and the “Cave of the Camel” and its little pebbly beach. We will finish the evening with a delicious dinner on board and a stroll through town.——————– ————– Thursday – Favignana With a gentle morning sail we will once again be in Favignana to discover the west coast that we hadn’t crossed coming. Here we will discover the enchanting bays near the lighthouse of Punta Sottile, go swimming near the little beaches and under Ulysses’ arch at Rotonda creek, and go snorkelling in the waters of the Galera Island. After lunch and some time to relax, we’ll sail towards the port of Marsala to arrive before dark. You’ll then have a chance to do some shopping and go for a stroll through the bustling narrow streets of the small town before dinner in a trattoria to sample the cuisine and famous local wines. ——————– ————– Friday – Motya This was a Phoenician colony and the archaeological city is on a small island in the “Stagnone” lagoon. Due to its location, it has played an important role in the history of Sicily and was strategic for both the Carthaginians and the Syracusans. Motya was completely destroyed and forgotten for centuries. It was only rediscovered at the end of the last century by an Englishman, Joseph Whitaker, who had come to Sicily to make cherry wine. Once you arrive on the island, you are struck by a profusion of scents and colours. The vegetation is luxuriant and in itself constitutes a valid reason for the visit. The highlight of the visit is undoubtedly the statue of the famous young man. Finally you can visit the charming nineteenth-century home of the Whitakers, which also has a little museum. In the afternoon we will continue sailing and stop off at the Paceco salt works with its pools, ducts and windmills for the movement of water. In the evening we’ll arrive in Trapani. Dinner and overnight on board in the port.——————– ————– Saturday – Trapani Breakfast on board and disembarkation at 9am. The day can continue with an excursion to Erice or a trip to Segesta.———— ————– ————– ————– ————– |
