How can you not become excited during a sailing trip in which the light and shade draw a painting full of atmosphere…
This is the experience that I had, this sense of sailing on a sea where the islands are nearby…the warm colours and the intense fragrances.

The silence of the sails, the friendliness and the good food make up the life on board…
I still feel nostalgic about those days spent together and the discovery of places in which time really seems to have stood still. It’s an adventure…

We found out about RossoMediterraneo on Bianca’s birthday.
For some time we had been planning to try to go sailing and the cruise to the Aeolian islands was my birthday present to her.

I already knew these islands, I had visited them more than once when, as a boy, I still lived in my home-land Calabria.
But sailing from island to island really was a pleasurable and fascinating experience.
El Safir is a refined and very comfortable boat, and it was very enjoyable to act as sailors together with the kindness and helpfulness of the skipper.

Not to mention Mario’s cooking… Mario was the fantastic and very friendly cook, who used to prepare delicious menus…
Every now and then, back at home, we still recall some moment of the trip and feel the desire to be back there again in the warmth and in complete freedom.

For this reason it is a pleasure to write these couple of lines about Rosso Mediterraneo, and to sincerely thank them for the wonderful holiday.

Hi there captain,
what can I say about the days spent together on the boat?

I was immediately struck by the language that one uses.
Everything, from the speed of sailing to the order of navigation belongs to that world. It was a bit like going back to being a child again and learning a new language…

I was surprised at the feeling of satisfaction on the boat, as someone said “when you don’t do anything, there is nothing you don’t do”.
On the boat even the simplest things, from putting back the fenders in the peak or giving a hand with the reefs, to simply doing the dishes, everything had a sense to it.
I loved the lunches we had at anchor and the fairytale landscapes where we used to stop at berth. The fish, just caught a few moments before by the captain, was cooked with simplicity and yet it seemed to be the best that I had ever tasted.

The laughter at the table, the drinks, the chats, the debates, everything went along naturally with the rhythm of the life we were living. One night at anchor, suddenly a strong wind picked up, but even in that moment there was nothing strange, nothing out of place…
The most intense emotion was when I was at the helm during the night crossing in the Adriatic! It is difficult to describe the sensation that you feel when your gaze passes from the compass to the sky and you have many thoughts, but calming ones….And all the others are asleep.

The sleep I experienced on the boat was deep and peaceful, a just reward for days lived to the full…
For this and all the things I felt and experienced, I want to thank you.

There is the excellent cooking by chef Mario, who makes you forget even the best island restaurants…

The itineraries are well planned so that you can enjoy everything that both the sea and land have to offer, without any troubles.
Recommended to anyone who loves an interactive but at the same time relaxing holiday.

Advice to all sailors…with little experience like me.

To visit the Aeolian Islands sailing on El Safir is definitely an experience not to be missed. The initial worries linked to the idea of not having your feet on dry ground soon disappear, as you gain confidence with the boat and quickly enter into a new world with Captain Scrivani as your guide, indicating the route and involving you in the journey towards your holiday.

Between sailing close to the wind or crosswind, the veers, the ropes to tie with the knots you have just learned how to do, the lunches and dinners prepared by Mario’s skilful hands, watching the sunset and sunrise on board, swimming in the open sea, the highly enjoyable days that pass too quickly.

The captain instils a real sense of security, he knows how to do everything.
You can even ask him to retrieve a camera or video camera that has fallen to the bottom of the sea, or the dinghy that has suddenly come away from the boat.

On your return, you won’t be an expert sailor but you will have learned a new language, you will have taken in the marvellous landscape that uplifts your mind and soul and you will cherish the pleasant memory of a holiday with a difference.
